Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy

The task: build a touchscreen digital interface to accompany a now defunct Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectrometer that has been cut open to expose its inner components and loaded with strips of RGB lights. The interface will guide users through written content and Python coded lighting interactions that explain NMR technology and its applications at Knox College in course work and faculty research.

A highly collaborative and multi-faceted project that has been in the works since early 2022. We worked with a team of Knox College professors, led by Dr. Diana Cermak, along with a team of developers from the computer science department, as well as physics, chemistry, computer science, and design students and faculty.

We will soon be posting video footage of the interface in action, along with footage showing users interacting with the interface while calling lighting commands to the NMR instrument. Be on the look out for press releases related to this exciting project!
